Gate Pioneers Proof of Security (PoSEC), Up to 104.58% Cold Storage Coverage to Enhance Asset Security

Gate has officially introduced Point of Sale Security (PoSEC), a new asset security verification framework, becoming the first digital asset trading platform in the industry to launch a PoSEC security verification system. Since its founding in 2013, Gate has always placed the security of its users at the forefront of its priorities. With the introduction of PoSEC, Gate extends security verification beyond sufficient reserves to include asset storage infrastructure with the ability to cover risks, strengthen protections for user assets and provide new ways of working to advance industry security standards.

PoSEC Focuses on Asset Storage Security and Quantifies Asset Risk Exposures

Unlike Proof of Reserves (PoR), which guarantees sufficient resource reserves, PoSEC focuses on resource storage security. By comprehensively showing the distribution of assets between cold storage and hot cells, PoSEC provides visibility into asset storage structures and their ability to cover potential losses under extreme conditions.

PoSEC presents the cold storage coverage ratio as a key metric to measure the extent of cold storage to cover all user assets. A coverage ratio ≥ 100% means that, under appropriate statistical conditions, cold storage alone is sufficient to cover all user assets even if all assets in hot packs are lost. PoR and PoSEC serve complementary purposes, extending asset security verification from adequate reserve to storage protection and risk coverage, and providing users with comprehensive and comprehensive information on asset security.

Up to 104.58% Cold Storage Coverage, with Open and Transparent Storage Structure

According to the photo taken at 00:00 (UTC) on November 4, 2026, Gate’s cold storage ratio reached 104.58%, with cold storage equipment and hot bag equipment accounting for 88.26% and 11.74% of the total equipment. Cold storage assets include digital assets that are offline and legacy assets under private ownership. To qualify, these assets must meet requirements such as not being used directly for daily deposits and withdrawals, held offline or under private ownership, multi-party authorization for transactions, and independent verification.

Current data is verified by an independent third-party accounting firm. The review covers reliability and control, value and calculation methods, and coverage ratio calculations. The audit report will be published on Gate’s official website once completed, to increase the transparency and reliability of asset security disclosures.

From PoR to PoSEC: Continuing to Strengthen Digital Asset Security

Gate has long been committed to the security and transparency of digital assets. In 2020, Gate was one of the first in the industry to introduce an Open System for Reserves (PoR) and a resource verification solution based on the Merkle Tree, establishing itself as an early contributor to reserve awareness in the industry. Gate introduced technologies such as zk-SNARKs to enhance its reserve asset verification framework.

As of October 18, 2026, Gate’s total reserves are approximately $8.688 billion, or 118.49%. The platform also uses a range of security measures, including hot and cold wallet separation, multi-signature technology, MPC, risk monitoring, and non-trusted access control, to establish a multi-layered security framework that covers asset reserves, storage management, and risk management.

From PoR, which verifies reserve adequacy, to PoSEC, which ensures asset storage security and risk coverage capabilities, Gate continues to build a multi-layered security framework that includes asset reserves, storage management, risk protection, and public verification. Looking forward, Gate will continue to adhere to its security-first principle, further develop PoSEC standards and authentication methods, and cooperate with many other industry participants to enhance asset security and transparency, laying the security foundation for the long-term, sustainable development of the digital asset industry.
